28-yr-old former Miss India Tripura, Rinky Chakma, passed away from cancer after a two-year fight.
She fought the fatal illness for two years before passing away despite surgery.

Two years after receiving a cancer diagnosis, Chakma had shared in an Instagram post last month about her difficult journey. She claimed that she had been going through a lot on her own and that she didn’t want to disclose her health to anyone. She believed she could fight and recover by herself. Chakma added, “But I guess it’s time I tell everyone about my health,” revealing that she had breast cancer in the form of a malignant phyllodes tumor.

She also talked about taking donations after the treatment had depleted her family’s savings. Because of the weakening effect of her treatments, she asked for messages rather than calls.
Following Chakma’s initial surgery, the brain tumor spread to her lungs and eventually to her head. “My brain tumor has already spread to my entire right side of my body, including my lungs, and surgery won’t be possible until I recover from chemotherapy.”

Chakma, in her post, said, she was undergoing chemotherapy and hoped to undergo brain surgery too. “I just wanted to let everyone know that me and my family is going through a rough time and the last 2 years have also not been easy with regular hospital stays and visits,” she said. “I thought letting everyone know what I am going through will also make me feel better.”

In a statement posted to social media, Femina Miss India expressed their profound sadness over Ms. Chakma’s passing and called her “a force to be reckoned with, embodying grace and purpose.”

“Her family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time. May her soul rest in peace forever. Rinky, we will always be reminded of the beauty and purpose of your legacy.
