Kiren Rijiju Alleges Sonia Gandhi-George Soros Connections, Calls for National Unity

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday raised concerns over alleged links between Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros, calling the matter “serious” and urging citizens to stay united against “anti-India elements.”

Rijiju emphasized that these allegations, which are reportedly in the public domain, warrant serious discussion. “The issue of George Soros was raised in Parliament,” Rijiju said while speaking to reporters. “The government is always ready for a discussion, and I appeal to everyone to remain united against anti-India elements.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism, accusing Sonia Gandhi of associations with organizations funded by the George Soros Foundation. According to BJP claims, these organizations have supported the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation, highlighting alleged foreign influence in India’s internal affairs.

The ruling party alleged that Gandhi, as co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, was linked to an organization that purportedly treats Kashmir as a separate entity. Additionally, it accused the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, chaired by Sonia Gandhi, of partnerships with the Soros Foundation, pointing to “foreign funding influences.”

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey announced plans to pose 10 questions to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, alleging collusion between Hungarian-American businessman George Soros, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), and the opposition. He claimed this alliance sought to destabilize the Indian economy and defame the Modi government.

“Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on Adani, live telecast by the Soros-funded OCCRP, highlights their dangerous relationship,” the BJP asserted. It also pointed to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s previous acknowledgment of Soros as a “friend,” describing it as “noteworthy.”

The controversy has fueled a political storm, with the BJP urging transparency about alleged foreign ties and the Congress dismissing the claims as baseless. The debate is expected to dominate upcoming parliamentary discussions.
