The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday demolished illegal structures of the Global Tapas Bar in Juhu, which served alcohol to Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah. Mihir, who is below the legal drinking age of 25 in Maharashtra, was involved in a fatal accident in Worli three days ago.
The bar was sealed following a thorough inspection by the civic body, which revealed violations of the state’s legal drinking age. This move came after the state Excise Department had already sealed the bar on orders from the district collector for rule violations.
On Saturday night, Mihir and his friends visited the bar where he was served hard liquor. Hours later, Mihir’s BMW rammed into a motorcycle, leading to the death of Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and injuring her husband Pradeep. The accident occurred early Sunday morning in the Worli area, where Mihir’s car hit the two-wheeler from behind. Kaveri Nakhwa, who was riding pillion, was dragged for approximately 1.5 kilometers before Mihir stopped the vehicle, switched seats with his driver, and fled in another car.
