The annual Kanwar Yatra for the holy month of Shravan has begun. The governments of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have made extensive security and logistical arrangements for devotees. During the pilgrimage, thousands of Kanwariyas travel to Haridwar, Gomukh and Gangotri to collect holy water from the Ganga before returning to their destinations.
