BJP Veteran Late Jaswant Singh’s Son Rejoins BJP After 5 Years With Cong

Son of former Union minister Jaswant Singh, former BJP MP Manvendra Singh rejoined the party on Friday after serving five years in the Congress.
Singh joined the BJP prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Barmer. In October 2018, Singh had switched to the Congress. During the PM’s rally, he also shared the stage with other BJP leaders.

“Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi was present when I reconnected with the BJP family and party members today at Adarsh Stadium in Barmer. In a Facebook post, he stated, “We are all committed to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public welfare policies and the resolution of ‘Vikshit Bharat.'”

In December 2013, Singh was chosen as the BJP MLA for the Sheo assembly constituency in Barmer.

Following the BJP’s denial of Jaswant Singh’s ticket, Manvendra Singh rebelled and ran an anti-party campaign in favor of his father. Singh went on to contest the Lok Sabha election as an Independent and lost.

The party suspended Manvendra Singh prior to the 2018 assembly elections.
After he joined the Congress, he was given a ticket to run against then-chief minister Vasundhara Raje for the Jhalrapatan assembly seat. he lost the election.
