At least five individuals sustained injuries in a sudden explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe, located in Bengaluru’s Whitefield branch, around 1 pm on Friday. The incident, which occurred in the city’s Rajajinagar area, startled patrons and staff alike, prompting swift emergency response measures.

Eyewitnesses recounted chaotic scenes as the blast rippled through the café, causing panic among customers and employees. Although initial reports indicated uncertainty regarding the precise number of casualties, authorities confirmed that three staff members and one customer were among those injured in the incident.

Emergency services were swiftly summoned to the scene, but due to the absence of ambulances, injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals in auto-rickshaws, as recounted by eyewitnesses.

While the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, authorities have ruled out any terrorist involvement. Speculation suggests the blast may have been triggered by a cylinder explosion; however, forensic experts have yet to ascertain the definitive cause.

Upon cordoning off the area, police deployed bomb squads and firefighters to conduct onsite assessments and commence relief efforts. Forensic teams were observed collecting evidence from the site, contributing to ongoing investigative efforts.

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, affirmed that thorough investigations are underway, with CCTV footage covering a significant area around the vicinity secured for analysis. He emphasized the need for clarity regarding the presence of any improvised explosive devices (IEDs) or similar elements involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Tejasvi Surya asserted on social media that the blast resulted from a bag left behind by a customer, dismissing claims of a cylinder explosion. He urged authorities to provide transparent explanations to the public and address concerns surrounding the incident.
