5th Test: R Ashwin Gets 5-wkt Haul, India Win By An Innings And 64 Runs

India won the fifth Test in Dharamsala by an innings and 64 runs thanks to centuries from Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma and a five-wicket haul from Ravichandran Ashwin.

With this win, India triumphed 4-1 to conclude the five-match series against England.

India reached 477 runs and a 259-run lead after bowling out England for 218. After Ashwin claimed five wickets, England was bundled out for 195. In addition to him, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah each claimed two wickets.

Meanwhile, the Indians engaged in nasty sledging of England stars too. The chatter between the Indians and the English batters were caught on stump mic.

One of the interactions that went viral was between Shubman Gill and Jonny Bairstow. It involved Sarfaaz Khan and Dhruv Jurel too.

Here’s how the conversation went:

Bairstow – What did you say to Jimmy about getting tired and he got you out after that?

Gill – So what, it was after my 100, how many have you got here?

Sarfaraz – Thode se runs kya bana diya, jyada uchal raha hain (scored a few runs today and jumping too much).

Joe Root scored 84 runs for England, Jonny Bairstow 39. Earlier, Shoaib Bashir took five wickets for England, while Gill and Rohit scored 110 and 103 runs for India, respectively.
