Tragic Death of 10-Year-Old in Patiala Linked to High Amounts of Synthetic Sweetener in Cake

The investigation surrounding the tragic death of 10-year-old Manvi in Patiala, Punjab, has shed light on a disturbing revelation. Authorities probing the case have discovered a significant presence of saccharine, a synthetic sweetener, in the cake consumed by the victim and her family during her birthday celebration.

Manvi and her entire family fell ill shortly after partaking in a chocolate cake purchased from the local bakery ‘Cake Kanha’. The onset of symptoms, including vomiting and dryness of the mouth, prompted immediate medical attention for Manvi, but tragically, she succumbed to her condition.

Concerns were raised over the cake’s composition, leading health officials to collect samples for thorough analysis. The subsequent report unveiled a troubling finding: the cake contained a notably high concentration of saccharine, a substance known for its sweet taste but also associated with health risks when consumed in excess.

Dr. Vijay Jindal, the District Health Officer, emphasized the potential dangers posed by elevated levels of saccharine, particularly in triggering rapid spikes in blood glucose levels.

As the investigation progresses, authorities have taken swift action, with an FIR filed against the bakery owner
