India secured its first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after the women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final at Nisshin, Japan. India posted 216/3, powered by Smriti Mandhana’s 79 and Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 49. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 69, as India successfully defended its Asian Games women’s cricket title once again.
