After Reasi, Another Terror Attack In Jammu, 6 Security Personnel Injured, Encounter Still On

An encounter between terrorists and security forces is currently on in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district following an attack on an army base late last night, according to police reports. The incident has resulted in injuries to five soldiers and a Special Police Officer (SPO).

This marks the third terrorist attack in Jammu in the past three days. Earlier incidents include a shooting in Kathua that injured a civilian and an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, which resulted in the deaths of nine passengers.

In a related development, Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, who is overseeing the anti-terrorism operations, confirmed that a terrorist was eliminated in an encounter in Kathua last night. Regarding the Doda incident, Jain reported that terrorists targeted a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in the Chattargala area. The ongoing encounter is taking place in the higher reaches of the region.

Jammu has seen a surge in terrorist activities recently, with several attacks occurring in previously considered terrorism-free zones. In the Kathua attack, two terrorists were involved. One has been killed, and security forces are using drones to search for the second terrorist in the Hiranagar area of Kathua.

Overall, the region remains on high alert as security forces continue their operations to neutralize the threats and ensure the safety of the local population.

The terrorists had requested water from several houses, arousing the villagers’ suspicions. When some villagers raised an alarm, the terrorists opened fire, resulting in one civilian being injured. Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, clarified that only one civilian was injured in the Kathua attack, refuting reports of three deaths.

“There are rumors that many people are injured and three are dead. But only one civilian was injured; all other information regarding hostages being held and deaths are rumors,” Jain stated.

He described the Kathua attack as a “fresh infiltration,” indirectly implicating Pakistan.

“It is our hostile neighbor who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country. This Hiranagar terror attack appears to be a fresh infiltration,” he said.

Two days earlier, a bus on its way to the Shiv Khori cave temple was attacked in Reasi. The terrorists opened fire after the bus driver refused to deboard the passengers. The driver lost control, causing the bus to fall into a gorge. Nine people were killed and 33 were injured in the incident. The attack was carried out under the directions of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza, officials said.
