Samantha Ruth Prabhu Reflects on Concussion During Citadel: Honey Bunny Shoot: ‘No One Took Me to the Hospital…’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, opened up about her challenging journey while working on the upcoming series Citadel: Honey Bunny, despite battling the autoimmune disorder myositis. The condition, which affects her muscles, proved to be a significant hurdle during the filming, with the actress even experiencing a concussion on set.

In a candid conversation with Galatta India, Samantha recalled a moment on set when she suffered a concussion and forgot the names of those around her. “I had a concussion and I forgot the names after that. I completely blanked out,” she revealed. She humorously added that despite her condition, no one rushed her to the hospital. Instead, the production team consulted a doctor via a phone call, which Samantha did not remember due to her state. Writer Sita Menon explained, “You don’t remember because you were concussed.”

Despite the severity of the incident, Samantha’s dedication to her work shone through. Recalling the situation, she said, “I remember, during my concussion, hearing that we have the set only for less than a day, we need to finish the shoot. So in my concussion, I was like, ‘I am coming, people.’” However, her condition ultimately forced a halt to the scene.

Throughout the production, Samantha doubted her ability to complete the series due to her health. She even pleaded with the directors, Raj and DK, to replace her, offering a list of actresses she believed would excel in her role. “I begged them to move on because I really didn’t think I could do it,” she admitted. However, the directors refused to recast the role, standing by Samantha through her struggles.

In the end, Samantha pushed through and completed the shoot. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed immense gratitude for not being replaced and for finding the strength to persevere. “Watching this show, I am so thankful that they didn’t make it without me,” she said, acknowledging her personal triumph in overcoming the physical and mental challenges.

Citadel: Honey Bunny, a spin-off of the American spy-action series Citadel starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, is set to premiere on November 7. The series, which promises a blend of intense action and drama, is highly anticipated, especially given Samantha’s remarkable comeback despite her health battle.
