Aadhaar Card No Longer DoB Proof: EPFO; Check List Of Valid Documents

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made a significant decision by removing the Aadhaar card from the list of documents that can be used as proof of date of birth (DOB). Following a directive from the Unique Identification Authority of India, the EPFO notified the public that the Aadhaar Card is no longer an acceptable document for date of birth (UIDAI). Aadhaar is primarily an identity verification tool and not a proof of birth, according to a January 16 circular from EPFO, which was cited by several beneficiaries as proof of date of birth.
The Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) has approved the circular. Aadhar cannot be regarded as proof of date of birth, according to a number of recent court rulings.

A letter has been received from UIDAI (copy attached), wherein it has been stated that the use of an Aadhaar, as proof of DoB needs to be deleted from the list of acceptable documents. Accordingly, the Aadhaar is being removed from the list of acceptable documents for correction in date of birth as mentioned in Table-B of Annexure -1 of the JD SOP under reference, the circular stated.
