The Congress party has strongly objected to the decision to change the colour of the Indian hockey team’s jersey and demanded that the move be withdrawn immediately. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said sports and athletes should not be used for narrow political agendas. He added that the iconic blue jersey represents India’s sporting identity and heritage, and any change should involve proper consultation.
