Renowned Radio Host Ameen Sayani Passes Away at 91

Ameen Sayani, the legendary radio jockey known for hosting Geetmala on All India Radio (AIR) has passed away. Ameen Sayani, aged 91, breathed his last on Tuesday night, succumbing to a heart attack. The news was confirmed by his son, Rajil Sayani, who disclosed that Ameen Sayani was rushed to HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai after experiencing a heart attack but unfortunately could not be revived.

Ameen Sayani’s iconic opening line, “Namaskar bhaiyon aur behno, main aapka dost Ameen Sayani bol raha hoon,” has resonated with radio listeners since the 1950s. He captivated audiences with his charismatic presence and love for music. Sayani gained widespread popularity as the host of Binaca Geetmala, a beloved 30-minute show that debuted in 1952 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Thank you for the sweet music and the lovely memories of Binaca Geetmala.”

The funeral arrangements are scheduled for Thursday, with close relatives expected to gather in Mumbai to bid farewell to the legendary radio personality.
