The mother of Saurabh Rajput, the merchant navy officer allegedly murdered by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla, has accused Muskan’s parents of knowing about the crime but remaining silent. Renu Devi, Saurabh’s mother, alleges that Muskan’s parents were aware of the murder but only reported it to the police after fearing potential legal consequences.
Saurabh was allegedly killed by Muskan and Sahil on March 4. The police reported that Muskan and Sahil confessed to stabbing Saurabh to death, dismembering his body, and sealing the remains in a drum with cement. Renu Devi insists that Muskan’s mother knew of the crime well before March 18, accusing her of attempting to mislead investigators.
“The truth is that Muskan’s mother knew about the crime before March 18. They only went to the police to protect themselves from legal action,” Renu Devi claimed.
In a shocking statement, Renu Devi also suggested that their six-year-old daughter might have known about the murder. According to her, the child had reportedly said, “Papa is in the drum.” However, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh dismissed this as unsubstantiated, stating that the girl might have overheard something during Muskan’s recounting of the incident to family members but had no prior knowledge of the crime.
Police sources confirmed that Muskan informed her parents about the murder on March 18, at which point they took her to the authorities. Investigators also revealed that Muskan had been planning the murder since November 2023. She allegedly manipulated Sahil into believing that his deceased mother wanted him to kill Saurabh. Muskan had created a fake Snapchat account pretending to be her brother and used it to tell Sahil that his mother was communicating through the account, ordering the murder of Saurabh.
Prior to the murder, Muskan had been preparing, purchasing knives under the guise of needing them to cut chicken and acquiring sedatives. Police believe she planned to dispose of Saurabh’s body in a secluded location after killing him. Additionally, Muskan reportedly knew that Saurabh’s family would not search for him after his death, as they had not been in regular contact with him during his time abroad due to their disapproval of his marriage to Muskan.
Saurabh’s family had not been in touch with him for the past two years while he was overseas, according to the police. Meanwhile, Muskan is said to have spent her first night in jail in tears and refused to eat her food.
