Maheep Kapoor, known for her role in the Netflix series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, recently shared a candid story about her first encounter with husband Sanjay Kapoor on comedian Raunaq Rajani’s show. The actress and television personality revealed that their journey began unexpectedly when she gatecrashed a party where Sanjay was present, marking the start of an unconventional love story.

Describing their first meeting, Maheep said, “I had a one-night stand with a man I never thought I’d marry. I gatecrashed his party, met his whole family, and was dead drunk.” Recalling the unique introduction to her future in-laws, Maheep recounted, “They still accepted me. They said, ‘Wow, what an amazing future daughter-in-law.’”

Sanjay’s impromptu marriage proposal came in the middle of a night out at a nightclub, The 1900s. “We were partying, and he just said, ‘Okay, we’re getting married.’ In between tequila shots, I said, ‘Okay, fine,’” Maheep added. After five years of dating, the couple married in 1997 and has been together for over 30 years.

However, the marriage has had its challenges. Maheep disclosed in the first season of her show that Sanjay had been unfaithful early in their marriage. Despite this, she chose to forgive him, putting her children first. Reflecting on her decision, she said, “I owed my daughter this amazing father, which he is. I wanted my home to remain a sanctuary for my children.”

Sanjay Kapoor, the youngest brother of Boney and Anil Kapoor, shares two children with Maheep: daughter Shanaya Kapoor, born in 1999, and son Jahaan Kapoor, born in 2006.
