In a chilling murder case, Telangana police have arrested a woman, her lover, and an accomplice for allegedly killing her husband, Ramesh, a businessman, and driving over 800 km to dispose of his body in a Karnataka coffee estate. Authorities say the murder was motivated by a desire to take control of assets valued at over ₹8 crore.
The suspects, identified as Ramesh’s wife Niharika, her lover Nikhil, and an accomplice Ankur, executed the elaborate murder plot after Ramesh refused to transfer his property to his wife. On October 1, Niharika allegedly killed Ramesh at their home in Uppal, Telangana, before teaming up with Nikhil and Ankur to dispose of the body. They drove to Karnataka’s Kodagu district, where they abandoned Ramesh’s burnt remains in a remote coffee plantation.
The investigation began when Karnataka police discovered an unidentified charred body three weeks ago. Scanning CCTV footage from the area, they noticed a red car registered under Ramesh’s name, leading them to his wife, Niharika, who had filed a missing person report. Telangana police were subsequently contacted to assist in the case.
As the probe continued, suspicion mounted around Niharika. During questioning, she confessed to the murder and detailed the involvement of her lover and accomplice. Police revealed that Niharika, an engineer by profession, had a complex personal history, including a previous marriage, motherhood, and a stint in jail for financial fraud in Haryana, where she reportedly met Ankur.
After her release, Niharika married Ramesh, but she continued her relationship with Nikhil. Authorities believe the three meticulously planned Ramesh’s murder to gain access to his wealth. Further investigations are ongoing as the police continue to piece together the details of this shocking crime.
