Malayalam actor Bala, also known as Balakumar, was arrested by the Kadavanthra police following serious allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-wife, singer Amrutha Suresh. The complaint includes charges of outraging a woman’s modesty and additional allegations under juvenile justice laws, as Bala’s actions reportedly occurred in front of their 12-year-old daughter, Avantika.

According to reports from Manorama and News9, Bala’s driver, who worked for him for three years, has provided damning evidence. The driver claimed to have witnessed multiple instances of Bala assaulting Amrutha, including acts of physical violence that left her with visible scars. In a Facebook post, the driver expressed his decision to speak out, stating, “I was witness to all these. She had scars on her body for which she had been to treatment.”

In response to the escalating situation, Avantika shared a video alleging that Bala had been rude to both her and her mother. Bala countered in a separate video, expressing that if his daughter did not wish to see him, he did not want to be involved in her life anymore.

Amrutha’s complaint further asserts that Bala has been continuously disturbing her and their daughter, even conducting paid online interviews discussing their personal life. She accused him of breaching their divorce agreement, which prohibits personal insults. “He is constantly disturbing me and my 12-year-old daughter,” she stated, emphasizing the emotional impact of his actions on their child.

Bala is a well-known figure in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries, having begun his career in Telugu cinema before transitioning to Tamil films. He gained recognition for his supporting roles in several notable Malayalam films and made his directorial debut in 2012. His filmography includes hits like Puthiya Mukham, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Pulimurugan, and Lucifer. Bala and Amrutha Suresh were married in 2010.
