    2 Passengers Killed As Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express Derails In Gonda, UP

    Two passengers died and many others were injured after some coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express train derailed in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda on Thursday.

    However, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that four passengers had died. The incident took place in Pikaura, between Gonda and Jhilahi in Uttar Pradesh. Officials said one passenger died while he was being taken to Lucknow for further treatment. A rescue team has been sent for relief operations.

    Visuals show passengers standing on the sides of the track with their luggage. Train number 15904 was headed from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh, Assam. The loco pilot of the train claimed that he heard a loud explosion before the collision occured. The central government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the accident.

    A 40-member medical team with more than a dozen ambulances were at the spot and more ambulances were on their way to the accident site when the reports last came in.
