    4 Punjab policemen killed in fog-related road accident

    Four police personnel were killed and 13 others injured when a Punjab Police bus in which they were travelling hit a statinary truck in Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, on Wednesday.

    The bus was carrying 30 policemen who were on their way from the Punjab Armed Police institution in Jalandhar to Gurdaspur. The accident took place at around 7 am on Wednesday in Mukerian, 54 km from Hoshiarpur.

    Hoshiarpur Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Lamba visited the accident site. The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-inspector Hardev Singh, senior constable Gurpreet Singh, who was the bus driver, and woman constable Shalu Rana.

    Their bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the Mukerian Civil Hospital.

    The injured were admitted to civil hospitals in Dasuya and Mukerian.

    Dense fog causing low visibility has created havoc increasing the chances of accidents due to thick fog and it is advisable not to travel in the morning and night hours
