GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway helped prevent train collisions involving 255 elephants between January and September 2026 through enhanced surveillance, AI-based alerts and coordination with forest officials. Authorities also use the Plan Bee system, speed restrictions and wildlife underpasses to protect elephants. Railway officials said vulnerable stretches are monitored closely, while staff and passengers are advised against leaving food waste near tracks.
