Devotees thronged Shiva temples across India on the first Monday of the holy month of Sawan. Around one crore pilgrims visited Haridwar, while nearly one lakh devotees offered prayers at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. Long queues stretched about five kilometres in Deoghar and three kilometres in Varanasi as thousands gathered for sacred darshan and rituals.
