Justice Surya Kant was sworn in as the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) on Monday. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He then touched the feet of his elder brother, who was present there. His family members attended the ceremony.
