Biden’s rally aimed to mitigate concerns within the Democratic Party, where whispers of replacing him as the nominee had surfaced following his faltering debate appearance. The debate showcased Biden’s hesitations and verbal missteps, heightening doubts about his capacity to serve another term.
Nevertheless, Biden launched a scathing critique of Trump, accusing him of unprecedented dishonesty and labeling him a threat to American democracy. “Donald Trump is a genuine threat to this nation. He’s a threat to our freedom. He’s a threat to our democracy,” Biden declared, energizing his supporters.
Trump, meanwhile, continued his offensive at a rally in Virginia, questioning Biden’s competence rather than his age. “It’s not his age, it’s his competence,” Trump stated, urging voters to consider the future impact of a Biden presidency.
Speculation about a potential replacement for Biden gained traction, but prominent Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, affirmed their support. “I will never turn my back on President Biden,” Newsom asserted, reinforcing the party’s unity.

As the Democratic Party navigated internal debates, Trump allies projected confidence. US House Speaker Mike Johnson endorsed Trump’s qualifications, stating, “Donald Trump is the only man on that stage that’s qualified and capable of serving as the next president.”
