Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Aunt, Stealing Jewelry for Valentine’s Day Getaway

In a shocking turn of events, a 23-year-old man from Vijayawada, pursuing his B.Tech degree, was apprehended by authorities in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. The suspect, identified as Jaswanth, stands accused of murdering his aunt, Sukanya, aged 36, and absconding with her jewelry for a romantic Valentine’s Day escapade with his girlfriend in Goa.

Sukanya, a resident of Doddakallasandra near Electronic City, was married to Jaswanth’s maternal uncle, Narasimha Reddy, and had two children. According to police reports, Jaswanth had a close relationship with Sukanya and frequently visited her residence.

The tragic incident unfolded on February 11 when Jaswanth purportedly visited Sukanya under the pretext of needing money to repair his car. Upon Sukanya’s refusal to provide financial assistance, Jaswanth allegedly formulated a plan to eliminate her and seize her jewelry.

In a chilling sequence of events, Jaswanth reportedly strangled his aunt, concealed her body in a bag, and transported it to a secluded area near Electronic City. There, he set fire to the body after dousing it with petrol.

Subsequently, Jaswanth and his girlfriend fled to Goa, where they celebrated Valentine’s Day, allegedly with Sukanya’s stolen gold chain.

The disappearance of Sukanya raised suspicions, prompting law enforcement to initiate an investigation. A specialized team was assembled to delve into the matter, leading to the eventual tracking down of Jaswanth in Goa.

During interrogation, Jaswanth purportedly confessed to the heinous crime, revealing intricate details of his premeditated plan. He disclosed purchasing a car days before the murder to facilitate the transportation of the victim’s body.

Authorities successfully apprehended Jaswanth in Goa and recovered the stolen gold chain from his possession. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation progresses.
