Delhi Police Make First Arrest in Rajouri Garden Burger King Shootout Case

In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police on Friday made their first arrest in connection with the Rajouri Garden Burger King shootout that resulted in the death of Aman Joon on June 19. The identity of the arrested individual has not been disclosed, and more details on the arrest are awaited.

The gruesome incident occurred at a Burger King outlet in Rajouri Garden, West Delhi, where Joon, 26, was shot dead by two gangsters while he was sitting with a woman. Joon sustained 38 gunshot wounds in the attack, which police believe was a targeted killing.

Earlier this week, the investigation was handed over to the Delhi Police’s counter-terrorism unit, the Special Cell. The Southwestern Zone unit of the Special Cell has been tasked with leading the investigation to apprehend the four accused individuals, whose identities have been established.

Fugitive Spain-based gangster Himanshu Bhau, a close aide of notorious gangster Bawana, claimed responsibility for the murder in a social media post. Bhau stated that the killing was in retaliation for the murder of BawanaтАЩs cousin, Shakti Singh, in October 2020. Joon is believed to have provided information on SinghтАЩs whereabouts to a rival faction, leading to Singh’s murder.

A senior police officer confirmed that multiple teams, including the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, are working in coordination to capture the assailants. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated as the police close in on the suspects.

This incident highlights the ongoing gang rivalries and violent retribution cycles within the city’s criminal underworld. The Delhi Police are under immense pressure to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security among the residents of West Delhi.
