52-Year-Old Man Shot Dead During Morning Walk in Delhi’s Shahdara

A 52-year-old man, identified as Sunil Jain, was shot dead on Saturday morning while returning from a walk in the Vishwas Nagar area of Shahdara, under the jurisdiction of Farsh Bazar Police Station. The incident occurred near the Yamuna Sports Complex, where two bike-borne assailants fired at least eight rounds at him.

The police rushed to the scene following a call from locals and transported the victim to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, confirmed the incident, saying, “A person, Sunil Jain, was found with gunshot injuries in the Farsh Bazar PS area. He was reportedly shot by two persons on a motorcycle. The Crime Team has been called to the spot, and further investigation is underway.”

Jain, who owned a business in Delhi, had reportedly not received any threat calls, according to his family.

The fatal shooting has sparked a political war of words, with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticizing the Centre over Delhi’s deteriorating law and order situation. Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj labeled Delhi the “Crime Capital,” while AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal accused Home Minister Amit Shah of creating “Jungle Raj” in the city.

“Amit Shah has ruined Delhi. He has turned Delhi into a jungle raj. People everywhere are living in fear. The BJP is no longer capable of handling Delhi’s law and order situation. The people of Delhi must unite and raise their voices,” Kejriwal said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police, which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has launched a detailed investigation to apprehend the culprits and uncover the motive behind the attack.
