In the oppressive heat wave, travelers on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga, Bihar, had to spend more than an hour inside the aircraft without air conditioning. In viral videos, passengers were seen frantically fanning themselves on the crowded flight.
In one video, passengers can be seen fanning themselves vigorously with handkerchiefs, brochures, magazines, and anything else they can get their hands on. Many people dab at their perspiration. It was reported that some passengers felt ill after spending so much time in the heat.

Spicejet reported that flight SG 476 departed the Delhi airport at 11 a.m. “Without any delays” and that both the journey and the return trip saw normal air conditioning. However, the airline acknowledged that during boarding, there were AC issues “due to extreme weather conditions.”

Because boarding took place outside the aerobridge and the aircraft had both doors open, there was some initial inefficiency in the air conditioning during the Delhi boarding process. After boarding was completed, the doors were quickly closed, and the cooling system continued to operate as usual,” an airline representative stated.

This incident comes days after an IndiGo  flight from Delhi to Bagdogra in Bengal was delayed by three hours due to severe heat. The high ground temperatures led to a technical snag which caused the delay, officials said.
