Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, including a sub-inspector, fell victim to a deadly assault reportedly carried out by Kuki militants. The attack occurred at an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) post situated in Naransena within Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
Manipur police officials disclosed that the CRPF personnel targeted in the assault belonged to the 128 Battalion, deployed in the Naransena vicinity. Describing the harrowing incident, an officer recounted that the militants unleashed a barrage of indiscriminate gunfire from hilltop positions, assaulting the camp between the hours of midnight and 2:15 am.
As per details from a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, the fallen heroes have been identified as CRPF sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini. Additionally, two others sustained injuries in the assault, identified as inspector Jadav Das and constable Aftab Das. A senior police official remarked that they suffered splinter wounds amidst the attack. The CRPF personnel were stationed at the location to ensure the security of the IRBn camp.
In the aftermath of the heinous act, authorities have launched a massive search operation to locate and bring to justice those responsible for perpetrating the attack.
