In a devastating incident on Thursday, a private school bus carrying students met with a fatal accident in Kanina, Mahendragarh, Haryana. The mishap resulted in the loss of at least seven young lives, while 20 others sustained injuries.

The ill-fated bus belonged to GRL School and was en route to pick up students from their residences when it overturned while attempting to overtake another vehicle on the road.

Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, with injured students being promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Superintendent of Police, Arsh Verma, confirmed that the driver of the bus has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Addressing concerns about the driver’s state at the time of the accident, Verma stated, “We have apprehended him and his medical examination is being conducted after which we will be able to properly establish whether he was actually drunk or not.” Reports also indicate that the driver may have been engaged in reckless driving, further complicating the investigation.

Haryana’s Education Minister, Seema Trikha, has initiated action in response to the tragedy and has reportedly departed for Mahendragarh to assess the situation firsthand.
