Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has announced plans to meet with BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi to discuss the course of action following an objectionable social media post shared by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate. Ranaut, who is the BJP’s Lok Sabha poll candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, stated, “We have reacted to the row over the objectionable post. BJP chief JP Nadda has asked me to meet him. Will be able to speak on the matter after the meeting with him.”

Ranaut expressed intentions to discuss the possibility of taking legal action against Shrinate during her meeting with Nadda. She highlighted the sentiments of the people of Mandi, stating, “Mandi is called chota-Kashi. People of Mandi are hurt because of this derogatory remark.”

The controversy arose from a now-taken down derogatory post on Instagram, featuring a photo of Kangana Ranaut with a derogatory caption, posted a day after the BJP fielded her from Mandi. Shrinate later claimed that the post was made by someone with access to her accounts and blamed a parody account misusing her name.

However, Ranaut’s response on social media emphasized the dignity of every woman. BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj condemned the derogatory words used against Ranaut, calling for an apology from the Congress leadership.

In response to Ranaut’s claims about the Congress not respecting women, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted Ranaut’s roots in Himachal and the initiatives taken by the state government to empower women.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take strict action against Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ social media posts against Kangana Ranaut.

Ranaut’s meeting with BJP President Nadda is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Delhi, where further discussions on the matter are anticipated.
