A Delhi Police woman constable sustained injuries while bravely thwarting a snatching attempt in the Bhajanpura area of northeast Delhi. The incident unfolded on March 16 around 4 pm, as 23-year-old Ritika was making her way home to Geeta Colony along Yamuna Vihar road.
According to police reports, Ritika was targeted by a perpetrator who forcibly grabbed her handbag in an attempt to flee the scene. Displaying remarkable courage, Ritika grabbed onto the assailant’s scooter, resulting in her being dragged for several meters.
A senior police official elaborated, stating that Ritika’s persistent struggle drew attention, prompting nearby individuals to come to her aid. With their assistance, the perpetrator, identified as Hayat (40), was apprehended. Ritika’s handbag, which contained her mobile phone and Delhi Police identification card, was successfully recovered from Hayat’s possession.
Though Ritika sustained injuries during the ordeal, she is reported to be in stable condition, with authorities confirming that she is out of danger. Investigations into the incident are ongoing as the police seek to gather further details.
