BRS Leader From Telangana K Kavitha Arrested In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

BRS leader K Kavitha has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad and is being transported to Delhi, marking a significant development in the Delhi liquor policy case.
Kavitha is the daughter of former chief minister and leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, K Chandrashekar Rao, and a member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of Telangana. Despite having ignored two summons this year, she was questioned in the case last year.

The arrest occurs on the day that the Congress government in Telangana completes one hundred days, weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, and hours after the agency raided her home. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conducted a roadshow in the Malkajgiri suburb of Hyderabad.

The BRS leader’s appeal against the agency’s summons in the case was heard by the Supreme Court on Friday. The court had previously given her immunity from questioning until this Wednesday. The case’s next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

When questioned about how family members had entered the home, Kavitha’s brother and former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao is seen in a video challenging ED officers.

The Enforcement Directorate has claimed that Ms Kavitha was part of a lobby called the ‘South Group’, which played a key role in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.

A video from inside K Kavitha’s Hyderabad home showed Mr Rama Rao, or KTR, in a heated verbal spat with ED officials. In the video, he claimed the agency officials did not have the transit warrant needed to move Kavitha to Delhi.
