18-year-old Dalit Gang Rape Survivor Asked To Remove Clothes In Court By Magistrate In Rajasthan

In a shocking incident, a magistrate in Rajasthan’s Karauli district was booked for allegedly asking a Dalit gang rape survivor to take off her clothes and display her injuries.

The survivor had filed a complaint on March 30, according to Deputy SP (ST-SC) cell Mina Meena. The survivor claimed that the Hindaun court magistrate had asked her to undress under the guise of inspecting her injuries.”She filed a complaint against the magistrate on March 30 after refusing to undress and having recorded the statement in court. Meena was cited as saying, “The case was registered with Kotwali Police Station under charges of outraging modesty.”

The magistrate has been charged under the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act and section 345 of the IPC (wrongful confinement).

The 18-year-old girl was gang-raped on March 19, according to the police. On March 27, a case was filed in the case at the Hindaun Sadar Police Station.

As per news reports, the girl was asked to remove her clothes by the magistrate, despite being forced to undergo a medical examination by the police. She had previously appeared in court on March 30 to record her statement.

The complainant stated in the March 30 FIR, “The magistrate asked me to take off my clothes after recording my statement. “I want to see the marks of injury on your body,” he said. “You are a man,” I retorted. If there had been a female magistrate instead, I would have shown. The magistrate stated, “I want to see the injury marks on your body,” in spite of this.
