UP Girl Dies After Falling Off Cycle as Men On Bike Pull Her Dupatta
A 17-year-ol girl was killed on Friday in an accident in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh after two guys on a motorcycle tugged her duppatta (scarf) as she was cycling with a friend home from school. Another motorcycle coming from behind struck the girl child after she lost her balance on the cycle and hit the ground. According to investigators, she passed away there and then.
In the region of the district near Hanswar police station, the accident happened close to Hirapur market. Social internet is awash with videos of the incident.
The girl can be seen riding her bicycle on a road with a friend al in the social media footage that is going viral. She then loses balance and falls to the ground as two men on a bike try to pull her stole. She was struck by another bike while she was falling to the ground, suffering fatal head injuries and a fractured jaw.
The three accused have been identified as Faisal, Shahbaz and Arbaaz, police said. The police filed a case and arrested the three yesterday after scanning CCTV footage of the area.
The three accused were being taken for a medical examination today when they allegedly snatched a police rifle and tried to flee. Police fired in retaliation, hitting and injuring two. The third accused also got injured during their attempt to escape.
“The three, while trying to escape, also fired upon the police personnel,” said Ambedkar Nagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajit Kumar Sinha.
