Six Gangster-Turned-Terrorist Mafia Operatives Declared Proclaimed Offenders by NIA Court

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in New Delhi has declared six gangster-turned-terrorist mafia operatives as Proclaimed Offenders, with three of them based in Canada and the other three in Pakistan.

The NIA accused declared Proclaimed Offenders are: Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala (based in Canada), Ramandeep Singh alias Raman Judge (based in Canada), Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa (based in Canada), Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda (based in Pakistan), Lakhbir Singh Rode (based in Pakistan); and, Wadhawa Singh Babbar (based in Pakistan).

The NIA had previously filed a Charge-sheet against nine accused persons, including Dala, Landa, and Rinda, on 22nd July 2023.

The case was registered suo-moto by the NIA on 20th August 2022 and revolves around the terror activities of chiefs and members of proscribed pro-Khalistan terrorist organizations, including Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International, International Sikh Youth Federation, and others. These groups, along with operatives from terror outfits and organized criminal gangs, have been involved in smuggling terrorist hardware such as arms, ammunition, explosives, custom-made ready-to-use IEDs, and other contraband, including drugs, from across international borders.

Investigations revealed that the accused persons conspired to smuggle terrorist hardware across international borders to support their associates in carrying out terrorist acts within Indian territory. Additionally, they were involved in recruiting terrorist cadres in India and raising funds for proscribed organizations.
