SGPC’s YouTube channel begins live telecast of Gurbani

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) YouTube channel made its debut on Sunday. This channel has changed its name to “SGPC Sri Amritsar” and will now broadcast live Gurbani every day from the Golden Temple. Additionally, the link will be accessible on the Sikh body’s Facebook page. According to the program, the Gurbani will also be aired on the PTC channel.

SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said the PTC had also volunteered to bear the monthly expenses of Rs 12 lakh to be paid to a New Delhi-based company hired for broadcasting Gurbani on YouTube and social media platforms.

Dhami announced the opening of the YouTube channel. “The SGPC’s YouTube channel will start broadcasting Gurbani kirtan from Amrit vela (pious time in the early morning), ‘Katha’ and kirtan from Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in the noon, and Aarti,” he said

He declared that the SGPC will hold exclusive rights to the Gurbani. “The SGPC shall be the owner of the feed link. It will be broadcast via YouTube. The Gurbani broadcast from the Golden Temple may not be redirected, restreamed, downloaded, or uploaded by any channel or website that has been granted permission by the SGPC, according to Dhami.

The SGPC had been making efforts to launch its own satellite channel. “We have started the process to acquire equipment and permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It may take two-three months,” said the SGPC chief.

Keeping in view the restrictions of YouTube, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh had directed the SGPC to have live broadcast of Gurbani through satellite medium as well.
