Sepoy Kom Laid to Rest with Full Military Honors in His Village
In the tranquil village of Litan, nestled within the picturesque landscape of Chandel district, Manipur, a somber atmosphere prevailed as the last rites of Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom, a valiant member of the Indian Army, were solemnly conducted. The braveheart had been abducted on a fateful day, the 16th of September 2023, from the peaceful locality of Tarung, Neikanlong, Happy Valley, Imphal West, by unknown miscreants. Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered on the 17th of September 2023.
The funeral proceedings unfolded with the utmost reverence and honor, befitting a soldier of Sepoy Kom’s stature. A profound sense of loss hung in the air as the village of Litan came together to pay their final respects. The entire village, along with members of Sepoy Kom’s family, stood united in grief, their hearts heavy with sorrow.

The poignant ceremony was graced by the presence of officers representing the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and the District Administration. They joined the community in expressing their condolences and acknowledging the incredible sacrifice made by Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom.
Sepoy Kom leaves behind a legacy of bravery and dedication, as well as a loving family to cherish his memory. His wife, a pillar of strength, stood alongside their daughter and son, their faces a mixture of pride and profound loss. Together, they will carry the memory of their beloved Sepoy Kom forward, honoring his unwavering commitment to safeguarding his nation.
