Majority Of Muslims In India Have Converted From Hinduism: Ghulam Nabi Azad

Ghulam Nabi Azad, the DPAP  (Democratic Progressive Azad Party) chairman, said that the majority of Indian Muslims had converted from Hinduism, citing the Kashmir Valley as an example where the majority of Kashmiri Pandits had done the same.

Ghulam Nabi Azad asserted that religion shouldn’t be used for political gain and claimed that anyone who does so is weak.

“A BJP leader claimed that some Muslims have immigrated from abroad while others have not. Both inside and outside are empty. Islam only emerged over 1,500 years ago. Hinduism has a long history. According to the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) leader, some 10 to 20 of them (Muslims) must have immigrated from outside; some of them served in the Mughal army,” he said, while speaking to a gathering in the Doda district.

In India, every other Muslim converted from Hinduism. Kashmir provides an illustration of this. Who lived in Kashmir 600 years ago were the Muslims? They were all Kashmiri Pandits. They became Muslims. All are born into this religion”, according to the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister.

According to Ghulam Nabi Azad, Hindus are cremated after passing away. They are burned in various locations. The river is mixed with their ashes, and we drink the resulting water, he claimed.

“Who notices afterwards that their burned ashes are present in the water?” the former Congress leader stated that people consume that water.

Similarly Muslims’ flesh and bones become a part of the nation’s soil, Ghulam Nabi Azad said. “They, too, become a part of this land. Their flesh and their bones become a part of Bharat Mata’s soil. Hindus and Muslims both merge into this land. What difference is there between them?” he added.

Taking a dig on the use of religion for votes, Gulam Nabi Azad said, “Whoever takes refuge in religion in politics is weak. Religion should not be used as a vote bank in politics. Voting should not be based on Hindu and Muslim names.”
